A-Beauty Explained

Australian beauty, or ‘a-beauty,’ is more than the simple notion of skincare products originating from Australia. These homegrown brands offer unique formulations with ingredients tailored to protect and nourish skin from the harsh effects of the sun and climate.

There was no one better to chat about it than with a-beauty Founder, Jamee Parker. After carving out a career in PR, and media and eventually as the Global Brand Manager at Alpha-H, Parker launched a-beauty in 2020 as a destination for premium Australian beauty products.

a-beauty stocks coveted local brands such as Ere Perez, Eye of Horus, and Habitual Beauty and offers shipping Australia-wide and globally.

What’s unique about Australian beauty?

One of the most distinctive characteristics of Australian beauty is its effortless nature. A-Beauty is a celebration of natural beauty that is minimalist and uncomplicated. The understated beauty of A-Beauty is a reflection of the laid-back and carefree Australian lifestyle.

What are some of the ingredients you will often find in Australian skincare products?

Australia is home to an abundance of natural ingredients that are highly valued in the beauty industry for their exceptional properties. These ingredients are used extensively in skincare, makeup, and fragrance formulations, and each one has a unique contribution to make.

For instance, Kakadu Plum is a rich source of vitamin C, while Jojoba is an excellent moisturiser for the skin. Finger Lime is packed with antioxidants, and Davidson Plum is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. Macadamia is a great emollient, and Lemon Myrtle gives off a refreshing and invigorating aroma. Together, these natural ingredients create formulations that are nourishing, effective, and a delight to use.

What are some of the trends you predict in the Australian beauty landscape?

The movement for sun protection is growing stronger every year, with celebrities and influencers leading the way by either launching their own brands or endorsing existing ones. More and more brands are joining the Ultra Violette movement, making sunscreen trendy and cool.

It’s inspiring to see people becoming more conscious about protecting their skin from harmful UV radiation and incorporating sun protection into their daily skincare routine. The demand for lightweight and effective SPF products is on the rise, and it’s exciting to see the trend continue to gain momentum.
