Eco Tan Face Tan Water Review

Last Updated: September 17, 2018

Confession – I have been reckless in the past about the products I put on my face, especially fake tan.

I would often use my body fake tan on my face in order to achieve a bronzed look from head to toe. Over the last few months, my skin has become more sensitive than ever and using any old product simply won’t do.

I have tried many face self-tanners but find most of them can be quite intense. If you already have a medium – dark foundation, it can leave you looking a little too orange.

After hearing the hype around the Eco Tan Face Tan Water I was curious to try it and see whether it is the best face self-tanner on the market.

Below I have detailed my experience using the product and whether it is a worthwhile purchase.

The Product

The face self-tanner comes in a 100ml bottle and has a clear consistency – no obvious bronze colour!

Eco Tan Face Water is stocked at a few stores, however, you can buy it online here.

The consistency of the product is very much like water (not surprising!), rather than a tanning lotion.

Eco Tan claims that continued use 2 – 3 times per week will build a natural-looking sun-kissed glow. You will not see a dramatic difference on first application as it provides subtle results over time.

The organic self-tan claims to create a “youthful glow” and will reduce the need to wear foundation. I will provide my thoughts on this below.

What is unique about this face self-tanner?

Unlike many of the self-tanners I have used that are packed full of chemicals, Eco Tan Face water contains natural ingredients and is both cruelty-free and vegan.

Their signature ingredients include:

All products released by Eco Tan, including the Face Tan Water are certified organic and natural. This means that they don’t just claim themselves as being “all natural”, they have in fact been certified by The Organic Food Chain (OFC) which hold some of the strictest standards in the world when it comes to organic products.

As mentioned, I was particularly thrilled to hear the products are cruelty-free and vegan! Testing on animals is just not acceptable in any case and I will always support brands that advocate for animal protection.

Does Face Tan Water work?

Continuous application of Face Tan Water provides a natural looking glow over time.

I have now been using this product for a few months and have to say, I love it! I apply it daily on my face, neck and décolletage after cleansing. It will always leave your skin feeling hyrdated and plump due to the effective ingredients that lock in moisture.

It builds to a beautiful, subtle glow over time and does not result in you waking up with an orange face.

Also, I have applied this when my skin has been at it’s most sensitive and found that it did not irritate my skin or inflame my breakouts. It is essentially a “tanning toner” and can complement your usual skin care routine.

I have naturally very fair skin and don’t think this could ever replace my foundation (I am always wearing self-tanner on my body). It does, however, create a nice layer of glow underneath my foundation.

Overall, this is one of the best face-self tanners I have used.
